Nepal is home to eight of the world’s ten highest mountain peaks including the lofty Mount Everest. This beautiful Himalayan country, surrounded by India, Bhutan and China holds stunning secrets tucked away from the rest of the world. 

One such secret is the region of Mustang Nepal! 

Mustang was once upon a time an independent kingdom that sat astride crucial trading routes that crossed the jagged Himalayan highlands into India.

Day 01 | Arrive Kathmandu

Morning  Arrive Kathmandu by QR/WY 

Welcome with a Rudraksha Band while boarding the car. Transfer to the hotel.

 

Traditional welcome on arrival. 

 

Optional Lunch in the restaurant of the hotel (Direct payment) 

 

In the afternoon visit the White Monastery for a blessing ceremony by the monks. Thereafter walk to Boudhanath Stupa  - one of the largest structural Stupas in the World with an en-route stop at a small handicraft workshop along the road.

 

Optional 6-course welcome dinner at authentic fine dining. Nepalese speciality restaurant “Krishnarpan” of the hotel Dwarika’s Kathmandu. ( Direct Payment)

Day 02 | Bhaktapur Durbar Square

Breakfast at the hotel. 

Transfer by coach to Bhaktapur Durbar Square. (Transfer time: approx. 40mins) It - A UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the best preserved medieval city-states in the Kathmandu Valley.  

On arrival, proceed for a walking tour with the guide to understand the interesting history behind this medieval city.

Transfer time from the hotel: approx. 45 mins

 

Lunch at the Heritage restaurant in Bhaktapur 

 

Before lunch, learn the art of making Nepal’s traditional delicacy “Momo”  which is a type of steamed dumpling with some form of filling.

 

Afternoon visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square and rickshaw ride to Thamel. 

 

Suggestion - You may have your dinner at  Kaiser Café Restaurant  in the Garden of Dreams Located just across the street from the former royal palace at the entrance of the Thamel tourist area (Direct payment) 

 

Optional: Free time to explore the nightlife in Thamel

Day 03 | Kathmandu - Pokhara

Arrive Pokhara and transfer to hotel.

Day 04 | Pokhara - Jomsom

Fly to Jomsom  

 

0900Hrs: Arrive at Jomsom and proceed for baggage collection. After exiting the airport transfer to the hotel by 4x4 jeeps.     Guests have an option of walking (20 mins).

 

Traditional welcome on arrival followed by a welcome drink on arrival and distribution of keys for check-in.

 

Rest of the morning at leisure.

 

1300Hrs: Lunch at the hotel. (Direct payment) 

 

After lunch proceed on a walk to explore Marpha village.

(Duration of activity: (2 – 2.5hrs)

 

Located at an altitude of 2650m in the Kali Gandaki Valley, Marpha village is one of the most charming villages encountered in the Annapurna Circuit Trek. Mar means     “hardworking” and Pha means “people”, the village of the hardworking people.

​

Marpha is particularly popular for apple production; it is often referred to as the apple capital of Nepal. Marpha is one of the rare places where heritage and modernity coexist beautifully. Backed up against towering cliffs, Marpha’s homes are made from stone. Doors and windows are outlined by cherrywood panels, sharp red lines bordering rustic white stones.

 

During the walking tour visit, the guests will visit the apple    orchard, visit the Horticultural Farm, take a tour of the  brandy    distillery, visit the Marpha Foundation and their  community     library along with Ekai Kawaguchi house (First  Japanese    monk) and later interact with the locals of Marpha 

 

Later return to the hotel by 4x4 jeeps.

Day 05 | Jomsom - Muktinath - Kagbeni - Jomsom

Early Morning:  Enjoy the magnificent view of the snow-capped  Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges while you sip a cup of early morning tea (subject to weather).

 

This morning we hike to Dhuma Lake, situated at an altitude of 2800m by crossing the river for a Champagne Picnic breakfast experience overlooking snow-capped mountains and the river. 

Duration of hike: 01hr, Distance: 6km

Note: Set up with portable tables and chairs.

Later drive to the holy Muktinath Mustang Temple (3800m) in 4x4 jeeps. (Transfer time:  01hr, Distance : 21km).

 

Once you arrive at the parking, you will be required to walk for another 20mins before you reach the temple.

 

Muktinath Temple is one of the most sacred Hindu temples in the Indian sub-continent. Visit the temple and the 108 holy water taps in its surrounding. A designated priest will chant a    mantra and bless the group. The guests in turn can light the traditional butter lamps and offer prayers.

​

Later you will drive down to Kagbeni for lunch. 

 

Located at an altitude of 2804m, Kagbeni is a small Tibetan village that is the only “Gateway to upper Mustang” located in the Valley of Kali Gandaki River. Kagbeni is known as one of the oldest villages in the Himalayas.

 

Lunch at a local restaurant in Kagbeni. (Incl.

 

 (After lunch, visit the village with its narrow cobbled streets and prayer wheels along those streets. The typical houses have prayer flags waving with the hard wind making an amazing view to look at.

 

There are many small Buddhist monasteries and Gumbas    scattered all around the area that the guests can visit.

 

Later drive back to Jomsom (10kms) and free at the hotel.

 

Optional: En route explore Jomsom Bazar on your Own. 

(Return to hotel by walk 20 min approx.) 

 

Return to the hotel by 1530hrs.

Drive to Kobang/Lurikot & enjoy packed lunch at the base of    Mount Dhaulagiri

​

Late afternoon visit ancient village, Tukche in the Lower    Mustang region of Nepal, to see the distillery that produces the best apple brandy. The 37-year-old Tukche distillery, is owned and operated by Kalpana Sherchan and her son    NirjharMan Sherchan.

Day 07 | Jomsom - Pokhara - Kathmandu

0845Hrs:  Fly to Jomsom and connecting flight for Kathmandu 

    

1230 Hrs:  On arrival, luggage will be sent directly to the hotel by a separate luggage van.

Day 08 | Kathmandu

Visit local NGO SABAH Nepal – Visit the showroom & Interaction Sabah Nepal is a social-business organization which works towards strengthening the livelihoods of poor and marginalized women home-based workers (HBWs). Since its establishment, it has been zeroing in on its mission of empowering the rural and urban poor women working in the informal sector through economic self-sufficiency.

​

1020Hrs:  Meeting at SABAH Trade Facilitation Center (TFC).

Brief introduction of the organization: what SABAH does, introduction to outreach programme etc. (coffee or masala tea and cumin biscuits. Organic and gluten-free!).

 

1100Hrs:  Tour of Sabah TFC: the production process of the     textiles (weaving unit, knitting unit, cutting unit, garment construction unit etc.)

 

1130Hrs: Weaving class: try to make your own piece of fabric, from the very beginning (handloom).

​

(Note: this experience is available on weekdays only)

 

Later proceed for lunch at ‘The Village Café’ run by - SABAH Nepal, a farm-to-table concept. 

​

The ingredients of the cuisines are grown and prepared by the women home-based workers of the nearby villages with careful attention to freshness and authenticity, and they themselves come and cook in the cafe kitchen using their inherited traditional culinary skills to give you the taste only to be found in home cooked food.

 

Return to hotel and time at leisure 

 

Optional:  Afternoon visit to Bungamati Village outside    Kathmandu and is quite famous for woodcarving
